2009 National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association annual symposium

Volunteer staff at Providence Wildlife have just returned from the 2009 National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association annual symposium (this year outside Chicago). It was a week filled with classes and workshops on numerous topics, from avian ophthalmology to zoonotic diseases.

While at the conference, we were able to purchase a specialized raptor carrying case for our education hawks, thanks to a donation from Mike Murphy.

Our dear friend and fellow rehabber, Diana Shaffer, who went with us, received the Lifetime Achievement award by the NWRA.

"Grove Lake" Film features Providence Wildlife Geese.

IMAX Theater Indiana State Museum
White River State Park Downtown Indianapolis

March 22, 2008 Over the summer of 2007, a group of Ball State students filmed "Grove Lake." The movie tells the story of Diane Butler, an up-and-coming reporter for an art magazine in Chicago. She is sent to the small Indiana town of Grove Lake to interview Mandy Donovan, a famous 1970's painter who disappeared at the height of her popularity, only to pop up thirty years later in this small Midwestern lake community. As Diane struggles to obtain answers from Mandy about her upcoming gallery of work (her first paintings in thirty years), Diane slowly begins to understand the attraction small-town life held for Mandy. As she becomes immersed in the town, she begins to understand Mandy's decisions and to see what this revelation means for her own life.

Mandy's life involves protecting the ducks and geese around Grove Lake and auctions her paintings in return for their assured safety. The geese filmed in Grove Lake were brought in by Providence Wildlife Rehabilitation.

New Web site launched 10/7/2007
We are proud to announce the launching of our new web site which is designed to increase animal awareness.
We spend an enormous amount of time with our rescue attempts and many are quite successful. We want to provide information via this web site on how to contact our organization as well as care for any injured animals you may encounter.

If you would like to contribute to our organization, please know that your money and/or material donations are put to good use. Below are just a few of the areas where we desperately need help.
